Biography:
Shawn Michelle Martin has over 16 years of legal experience. She has an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies and was further one of the first paralegals to participate in the paralegal certification program offered through the Ohio State Bar Association in 2007. Shawn is certified in Family Law and Estate Planning/ Administration. Shawn is an associate member of the Ohio State Bar Association, serving on the Family Law Committee, and is an associate member in the Stark County Bar Association. Shawn has extensive knowledge in the preparation of court orders necessary to divide retirement assets and pension benefits including, but not limited to, QDROs, DOPOs, COAPs, and other state and federal retirement divisional orders. This experience has been gained by Shawn’s attendance at numerous CLE courses and extensive research throughout her 16-year career.
Shawn began her career with Morello Law Offices, Counselor and Attorney at Law, in 2014. Her various paralegal duties include, but are not limited to, assisting Attorney Morello and the client in all aspects of file management, drafting of pleadings and correspondence to clients, and research. She further assists Attorney Morello in the preparation and organization of discovery and assists in the preparation of trial exhibit notebooks and trial preparation to ensure that Attorney Morello is well prepared for all hearings and trials. Shawn further handles the office billing. Shawn and Attorney Morello work together to effectively litigate the facets of all cases.
Prior to her beginning her career with Morello Law Offices, Shawn began her career in 2001 and was employed with the same firm for 13 years while also moonlighting for several other attorneys. Shawn further is the sole owner of a process serving company which she has owned since 2006. Her process serving business also serves to provide additional contacts and knowledge in the legal field. In her free time, Shawn enjoys raising her five-year-old son.
